Arne Slot Insists He Is Safe and Retains Liverpool's Support After PSV Humiliation

Arne Slot conceded that it's expected for concerns to be raised about his position following a further heavy loss against the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their 9th defeat in 12 games, marking the club's poorest streak after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie champions on a tough night at Anfield.

“I feel secure, I'm fine, I have got plenty of backing from management,” the coach remarked.

“It would be great to change things and earn three points of course but if you are in a managerial role and not doing well then it's expected that doubts arise.”

He added, “I accept my role. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a difficult position but it's crucial that we improved our results.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to expand on his dialogues with the team officials, Slot explained:

“There's regular dialogue. They assist to the team and to me and we discuss these matters but they don’t call me all the time each day to say they have faith in me.”

He mentioned, “During our regular discussions I perceive the trust. But I haven’t spoken to them after this game yet so it remains to be seen.”

Persistent Problems and Player Reaction

The manager expressed regret over known shortcomings from his squad in their European loss, specifically missed opportunities and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more direct in his view of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the solutions. Truthfully, I do not. I’m saying that to everyone,” Jones remarked.

“It's simply not good enough. I don't need to wait to think about it. I’m past getting mad inside. I’m at the point now where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I play for the team I support. I support them, and I’ve seen Liverpool for years.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team experiencing a spell of this nature with results like these.”

He finished, “However we still have the crest on our shirts. And until it is gone, we'll continue to compete.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad back to its rightful place, show everyone again what this club is about and why it's known as the best team in the world.”

“However currently, we're in trouble and we have to turn it around.”
