Esteemed Star Pat Finn, a versatile actor, Recognized For Parts in Friends and The Middle, Passes Away at Age 60.
US performer Finn, who featured in iconic programs like Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has succumbed aged 60.
The comedy and improvisation performer died at home in LA recently having undergone treatment for cancer since 2022, as reported by news outlets.
"He never met a stranger - just potential friends he hadn't encountered," his relatives stated in a announcement.
They noted that he had "lived his life fully - with happiness and energy".
A Notable TV Career
Finn's first television role was on a show starring George Wendt in 1995, where he portrayed the lead character's sibling.
He subsequently landed a repeating character on Murphy Brown from 1995 to 1997.
He played the part of the character Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in 1998, portraying a party host who would assign burdensome jobs to his guests.
Throughout the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on a variety of hit series, including:
- The King of Queens
- "Friends"
- That '70s Show
- House, M.D.
Finn was perhaps best known for his portrayal of the character Bill Norwood in The Middle, starring in eight seasons of the show from 2011 to 2018.
His work in movies are It's Complicated and "Santa Paws 2".
A Life in Improv
Away from his television work, Finn was a skilled improviser and also taught at the Colorado university, where he was a faculty member.
He was part of a six-member improv team known as "Beer Shark Mice".
"Pat guided, supported, and advised numerous pupils over the years and it's nearly impossible to find anyone anywhere who has anything negative to say about him," his family wrote.
In a tribute, fellow actor Richard Kind said there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, grounded individual you could encounter".
"Perpetually optimistic, helping you be funnier and better. A great dad, a great guy," he shared online.
The actor is leaves behind his wife Donna, his three kids, and his parents and siblings.
