Shoaib Bashir Earns Unexpected Inclusion in English Ashes Squad
The English team has opted for a twelve-player squad just 48 hours ahead of the opening Test match, with Shoaib Bashir securing a surprise place.
Bashir's selection suggests that the visiting team will delay until the day of the initial match to determine whether Perth Stadium pitch favor a pace-heavy attack or the inclusion of a spinner.
Both pace bowlers are part of the 12-man squad, indicating there are no doubts about their fast bowler's fitness.
Gus Atkinson and Brydon Carse complete the bowling group, with the latter most likely to be omitted if the spinner enters the starting XI.
Ground Conditions Favor Pace Bowlers
Brendon McCullum had been anticipated to choose an pace-only lineup on a ground that has hosted several previous Tests.
During these games, the majority of dismissals have been taken by seamers, with only a small number to spin.
Among these 40 wickets, the veteran spinner has taken the bulk, while overseas slow bowlers together have just a handful.

Earlier, Lyon commented on Bashir as “OK,” adding that “in my eyes, the experienced spinner is still the English best spinner.”
