Spurs Boss Thomas Frank Labels Vicario Booers 'Not Genuine Supporters'

The Cottagers Begin Powerfully to Defeat Spurs and Raise Tension on the Manager

Tottenham Hotspur supporters who jeered goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario were told later "they cannot be true Spurs fans" by manager Frank.

Spurs conceded a pair of scores in the first six minutes to lose 2-1 to Fulham, registering their 10th Premier League at home defeat of 2025.

However the main topic of discussion was the visitors' second goal when the keeper lost possession well outside his box.

The goalkeeper came out to handle a long ball and took the ball towards the touchline.

But, instead of kicking it into touch, the Italian spun and attempted to clear away, but lost his footing as the ball glanced off Harry Wilson and was collected by Josh King.

The forward passed the ball off to Wales midfield player Harry Wilson, who curled a shot into the goal from the sideline measured at 36.6 yards.

Moments later when the ball came to the keeper once more, a number of Tottenham fans booed him.

Spurs were booed off at the interval, with the side 2-0 down, and once more at the final whistle.

A particular of those booing sessions really angered the manager.

"I heard some of our supporters reportedly booed the incident and jeered after, which, in my view is completely unjustifiable," the Dane stated regarding the supporters' response to his goalkeeper.

"Those individuals can't be real Tottenham fans that act that way. Fair enough jeering after the match, no problem, but when we are playing, we are supporting each other, we are with one another going forward."

Tete had handed the visitors a fourth-minute lead prior to Harry Wilson's strike – with Mohammed Kudus netting for Tottenham in an better second-half performance.

Former Premier League keeper Hart remarked that the next score was "totally preventable".

"I certainly appreciate the supporters' frustration," Hart added. "I am aware the part the keeper is performing. He's a excellent team player, he is a true leader in the dressing room but in the end you are going to be judged by your actions.

"The keeper was deeply involved in what turned out to be the decisive goal."

'It is In the Game, I'm a Big Man'

Thomas Frank Stood Up For His Keeper Vicario Following the Game

Italy international Vicario is in his third campaign with Spurs.

The 29-year-old said after the match that he had to take the feedback.

"That score was a error of my own, I accept responsibility for it," he said.

"The intent was to clear the ball long and I simply struck the ball in a bad manner. It was an even bigger challenge to overcome."

He stated receiving jeers "is part of the game".

"I'm a big man, what can I say?" he added. "The team cannot be affected by the circumstances in the crowd. Supporters have the right to do what they think.

"It's on us to stay more composed, to focus on our own performance. We are missing in composure and calmness to overturn results. This match is a bad defeat and it is tough to take."

'It Shocked Me No One Went Back to the Goal Line'

In spite of Vicario's error, it was far from an simple score for Harry Wilson to score.

In fact it was the next most distant Premier League score of the campaign – after Tyler Adams' forty-three point three yard goal for the Cherries against Sunderland, which interestingly too came on the same day.

The goalscorer said he was "somewhat taken aback" that he still had an empty net to target.

Ten moments passed between the keeper exiting of his box and the midfielder striking – which was five seconds following the clearance.

"I felt like the keeper was away from the area for ages," he said.

"I was surprised none of the back four went back to the line. When not one of them defended the goal, my eyes lit up a bit.

"[Destiny] Udogie slipped as well, which gave me a bit of additional time. After that it was solely about trying to achieve the right contact and get it towards goal. I had a positive feeling, as soon as it came off my boot, that it was heading in."

'When You're in a Bad Spell, All Appears to Go Against You'

Jeering While We Are Still in Play Is Completely Unacceptable - Frank

Although the keeper's error led coverage, this was an all-round poor day for Spurs to extend their home woes.

The match was their 10th at home defeat of 2025 in the league, a shared club statistic along with 1994 and two thousand and three.

The side still have home games against Frank's old side Brentford and title holders Liverpool to play before the end of the season.

Only one of those wins have come since the manager took over from Ange Postecoglou in the off-season.

"If you are behind 2-0 after the opening, there is a huge challenge to climb," said Frank.

"During in a bad spell, all aspects appears to work against you as well – the first was a deflected shot, the second is a mistake from Vic.

"The outcome leaves us in a place where we have suffered an additional match. Each fixture has a single story, today we were defeated in the first six minutes.

"We just need to keep working. The later period was much better and hopefully an aspect we can use to learn."

Tottenham have been defeated in 4 consecutive at home capital clashes for the initial time in the Premier League.

And they are recording nine point five attempts and 3.2 shots on target per match in the Premier League – their poorest rates on file in a single season (since at least 2003-04).

Ex- Cottagers midfielder Murphy stated that Frank has to endure the criticism.

"He's got take the stick," Murphy said. "He has taken a high profile job at a huge football club with enormous expectation. There is scrutiny and responsibility that accompanies that.

"Their showings at home have been disappointing and they have to get better {quickly|
